History

In 2013, in an effort to better serve his community, Attorney Michael P. Utke opened a law office for just that purpose.

Better service to clients is easy to say, but difficult to achieve in the current legal paradigm of stuffy attorneys walled off from clients by assistants and paralegals. In order to achieve the goal of optimizing service, the firm had to change the model, and focus on approachability and communication.

Our goal is simple, to ensure that our clients feel comfortable calling to say, "Hey, let me run this by you...". It starts with a friendly and open rapport and knowing that when you call, you’re going to speak to your attorney and not an assistant. Having that relationship with our clients allows this firm to proactively assist in avoiding liability, rather than reacting once it has already been incurred.

Attorney Utke has represented clients in Probate, District and Superior courts throughout Middlesex, Essex, Worcester, Hampden, Norfolk and Suffolk counties.  Additionally, Attorney Utke has appeared before the Massachusetts Appeals Court and Federal District and Bankruptcy Courts.

Transparency In Billing

We offer hourly, flat, hybrid or contingent* rates. We keep detailed logs of the time spent on your case, and make them available upon request. We bill in tenths of an hour, rounded up to the nearest tenth. We only work for as long as a case requires, so you’ll never be over-billed for unproductive time. Invoices will include costs for copies, filing, messengers, and third-party research tools. A client may request a copy of billing statement at any time to ensure that there are no surprises.

Attorney rates are $500-600 per hour, rates for paralegals and law clerks are $250 per hour. Retainers must be paid upfront.  Payments can be made by check, credit card, or online payment.

Our financial services processor accepts a wide range of payments types, which may include credit cards, debit cards, ACH payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc. The types of payments accepted are determined solely by the financial services processor. Please be aware that the financial services processor will charge fees for all transactions and this firm will pass through those charges to our clients. Those fees can be avoided by paying by check directly to our office.

*Contingent rates are not applicable to all cases.

Owner/Partner

Michael P. Utke

I live in Pepperell with my wife and kids. Both of my children attend the North Middlesex School District and play sports in town. We are part of this community and this is where I want to focus my practice.

I studied law at Suffolk University Law School, during that time I worked at Diller and Diller in Boston, as well as the Law Offices of Frank N. Dardeno in Somerville. I am admitted to the Massachusetts and Federal bar and am a member of several associations, including the American Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association.

I believe that it is important to give back to the community and volunteer with several organizations that provide pro bono legal services to indigent parties.
